More Russian hackers? Aliens? Someone who just wants to ruin my fun? Guh.

Starting a list of my favorite books/authors. Making it public because I am in that kind of mood. If an author is on this list it means I love them and probably have read every word they've published so if I don't mention all their titles I probably disapproved of the unmentioned ones on some (potentially minute) level.

Geek Love Katherine Dunn
Man Who Fell In Love with the Moon & City of the Shy Hunters Tom Spanbauer
Confederacy of Dunces John Kennedy Toole
Platform Michel Houellebecq
Special Topics in Calamity Physics Marisha Pessl

Geoff Nicholson (especially Still Life with Volkswagons and Footsucker)

Books/Authors I hate who deserve mention
Toni Morrison
Dave Eggers (with one STARTLING exception: What Is the What: The Autobiography of Valentino Achak Deng)
Cunt by Inga Musico (because it is factually inaccurate and should have been so. much. better.)
Charlaine Harris (Don't live up to my expectations of your vision? Feel my wrath!)

1(Though, in general, I think he's a bit overrated)
2 (I read EVERYTHING he ever wrote or talked about and had to have a nearly 20 year moratorium to recover. SO FREAKING DEPRESSING BUT SO FREAKING TRUE AND MEANINGFUL TOO)
3 (all Gaiman really, except American Gods and Sandman *Yes, I know I am a cretin*)
4 Up to around 2005 his Marlene Chiampi/Butch Carp stuff was tight.
5 (This is where Dishwasher Pete came by his schtick methinks).
